When Women Choose to Grow, Everything Changes

Content

In October 2025, one of the long-held aches on my heart became a reality: journeying deeply with women to help them uncover their purpose, potential, and identity - in marriage and beyond.

I convened the first cohort of the More Than a Wife programme, an intentional 8-week journey. Fifteen women embarked on this first path together. They came from different walks of life; married and unmarried, mothers and professionals, but they shared a common longing: to reconnect with themselves, with God, and with purpose.

What unfolded over those weeks was nothing short of transformative.

The programme explored identity, wholeness, seasons, stewardship, roles, purpose, and sisterhood. But beyond the curriculum, something deeper happened: women began to see themselves again, often for the first time in years.

What follows are glimpses of the journey through the eyes of the participants, shared during the programme and especially on the final day when we gathered in person to reflect, celebrate, and give thanks.

For many participants, one question echoed throughout the journey:

“Who are you when all your titles are stripped away?”

For Nakyazze, this question sparked deep reflection and resolution:

“As the question got answered, I made a decision to become a person of excellence and to leave a mark. I have learnt to pray more into situations and not rely on others for the success of my journey.”

For Namakula, the same question was both confronting and liberating:

“It hit me hard. I reflected on what truly defines me. It was transformative. I have learnt to order my life and to let go.”

And for Hilda, identity became a foundation for healing and growth:

“The question ‘Who are you?’ took me back to the drawing board. The roots have become more rooted, ziggumidde! I feel more equipped to steward the different aspects of my life. I have so much peace.”

Rediscovering value, worth, and wholeness

Acio describes the journey as one that touched every area of her life:

“I feel so valuable, with a lot of positive feelings. The appreciation of who I am grounded me. This year has been my best because of this journey.”

Hellen shared how the programme helped her reclaim herself after seasons of compromise and people-pleasing:

“I was seeing my life through the lens of others. I had reached a point of making compromises just to make others happy. Now I know myself better, I have stopped focusing on pleasing people, and I prioritise personal prayer time. I wish the sessions were continuous.”

For Namakula and others, the session on wholeness brought clarity on self-care and balance:

“Understanding what needs to be cared for helped me take responsibility for my whole self.”

Clarity, stewardship, and intentional living

Grace joined the programme seeking clarity, and found it:

“My year was too scattered. The programme helped me get back on track. The session on stewardship made me reflect deeply on how I parent my five-year-old daughter. I had become so self-absorbed.”

Resty realised how much of her life had been happening by chance:

“I have reflected on who I am besides the roles I carry and on being more intentional about everything.”

For Diana, the journey was both healing and challenging:

“Lucy asked me, ‘Diana, what do you want?’ That question sent me into reflection. I realised I needed to fill my cup. I also saw how fears from the past were shaping how I lived and parented. The programme challenged me to believe who I am.”

Thriving without choosing between roles

One of the recurring tensions many women carried was the perceived need to choose between family, career, faith, and self.

Linda shared:

“I joined the programme because I felt I had to choose between growing in my career and my family life. Now I know I don’t have to choose. I can thrive as a wife and as a professional.”

This realisation, that thriving is possible concurrently, became a turning point for many.

A journey of healing, joy, and becoming

Immy spoke of letting go of negativity and rediscovering herself:

“I feel more grounded and re-invigorated to face life.”

Goretti captured the spirit of the journey simply and powerfully:

“I am in a new era. I am finding more meaning in life. Thank you for journeying with me into discovering the hidden queen I am.”

More than a programme

What emerged clearly from Cohort One is this: More Than a Wife is not about fixing women. It is about remembering, restoring, and realigning them.

It is about helping women to:

  • Ground themselves in identity

  • Heal from quiet, often unseen wounds

  • Live intentionally and in season

  • Steward life with wisdom

  • Thrive in marriage, motherhood, career, and faith, without losing themselves

As one participant simply put it:

“I wish this programme had come earlier in my life.”
